This is the official trailer for heart wrenching documentary, Blood Lions – that exposes the horrifying canned lion hunting industry in South Africa. We are supposedly one of the only countries where these apex predators are bred to be hunted.
Many will argue that hunting is important for the conservation of South African wildlife, and rightly so. Our game reserves face many dire challenges such as poaching, drought and the plummeting Rand and therefore allowing foreign investment to hunt some of the wildlife that would have otherwise been culled – is understandable.
When you are breeding big cats in captivity and then releasing them into the wild, only for a clueless foreign hunter to kill the animal is not sport and it’s not conserving anything. It merely fills the pockets of these inhumane killing farms that supposedly have around 7000 lions in captivity in South Africa at any given point.
The statistics are staggering. Get behind the cause people.
